Hākinakina - Whānau / School Sports
The kura whānau compete against each other in various competitions during the year. Swimming, Athletics, Cross Country and Kēmu Māori have become special events.  Whānau are invited to attend and even participate at times.  E te whānau haere mai ki te pakanga mō te whānau a tō tamaiti.

Waka Ama
All wharekura students are encouraged to trial at the beginning of the year for the Waka Ama Nationals Secondary School Competition at Tikitapu in Rotorua.  Waka Ama training starts as soon as kura begins in February. For more information please refer to the Waka Ama 2021 page.

YMCA - Youth Sports Programme

The kura usually enters teams in the local youth sports programmes.  The YMCA junior league offers a variety of sports that our tamariki can be involved in.  These sports includes basketball, indoor soccer and flag football.  Junior Leagues are based at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua.

Each term pānui will be sent to whānau seeking interest and/or registrations for sports being offered.  Information about teams and games can be found under the relevant tab.

YMCA Sports Term 1, 2021

Just a heads up re sport in Term 1 next year.

Flag rugby

Starts on 23 February at Cannons Creek Park and will be on every Tuesday until 31 March, 2021.

 Kī-ō-rahi

Starts on 24 February at Onepoto Park and will be on every Wednesday until 31 March, 2021.   We are only entering one team per age level per sport as we have difficulty getting coaches and managers, and, ensuring tamariki commit to playing the whole season. A pānui will be sent out at the beginning of 2021 calling for names. The first 10 names received will gain a position in teams.

 Kiwi Kids Tryathlon

We still have time to register your child for the earlybird Kiwi Tri held in Lower Hutt on the 17th March. If you are registering or interested in registering - we are working towards getting some sponsorship to help with registrations.   So please let Evelyn know if you would like your child to be pre-registered, we can confirm this list in week 1 next year.  It would be beneficial for your child to begin training in mid January of 2021.

Saturday Netball Competition

This year we have our Senior netball (Year 9-13) playing in the Kapi Mana Netball competition and our Primary netball playing in the Ngāti Toa Netball competition.
