In accordance with our whakatuaki “He kura te tangata” our kura is a child centered place offering purposeful, quality learning programmes.

Our open door policy indicates the commitment the kura has to the Board of Trustees, whānau whānui, mātua and kaimahi working together to provide a high standard of education for our students. Our students are educated in a caring, stable and disciplined environment, which encourages them to do their best at all times.

Underlying our graduate profile, our charter statement and strategic plan is our key goal of encouraging students to become responsible, independent achievers, with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.

It is our expectation that a balanced curriculum focused on quality delivery and instilling positive attitudes will foster the development of skills for learning and desire to acquire knowledge.

Te Kura Maori o Porirua has a professional, experienced and dedicated staff who work to recognise individual student strengths. They keep up to date with new and innovative methods for learning by participating in internal and external professional development and are constantly looking for ways to ensure our programmes are relevant to the technological age we now live in.
