An ePortfolio (electronic portfolio) is an electronic collection of evidence that shows a learning journey over time.
At Te Kura Māori o Porirua we use E-Portfolios as a record of the mahi an ākonga does at kura and to showcase that mahi to parents and whānau of the ākonga. It is evidence that can be used by the student to show or review his or her work at a later time in life and may be something they keep adding to as they go through life. For us it is a way to include parents, caregivers and whānau in the students journey through kura. The work may include samples of writing, photos, videos, projects, comments or observations from kaiako, it may even include a blog written by the student or an RSS feed, etc. One of the main aspects of an e-portfolio is the reflection of the student on the their mahi at kura.
In the past we have used a range of e-portfolios at kura, and although all have their pros and cons we recently have been looking at one specific package Seesaw for Schools as a school wide digital portfolio solution. We think refining it down to one package will make it easier for ākonga and whānau to use and access. We will be working on this for a little while so please be patient while we work through it. We will let you know if your tamaiti has Seesaw and how to access it. We have put a link on our Kura site to make it easier for whānau to access (when they do have access).
